Zach Scribner
Principal/Math/Chemistry
Born and raised in the Lighthouse Church, Zach attended Lighthouse schools from kindergarten through high school, graduating from LCA in 2008. He went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts in History from UCLA. Since 2012, Zach has served the Lighthouse schools in a variety of roles, including teaching math and science and coaching football. Passionate about helping students thrive, he strives to see the best in everyone. In addition, he has served as the youth pastor at Lighthouse Church.
Mike Ashcraft
Spanish/English
Mike has extensive teaching experience both in the United States and in Guatemala, where he served as a missionary for nearly 16 years. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in English from UCLA, graduating Magna Cum Laude. While on the mission field in Guatemala, he founded a school, demonstrating his commitment to education and community development. Now back in the United States, Mike teaches English and Spanish and serves as the pastor of Lighthouse Church in Van Nuys. He enjoys spending time with his family, pursuing journalism, and playing soccer.
Rachel Peterson
Rachel grew up in Los Angeles and is a graduate of The Lighthouse. She earned her BA from UCLA and her Master’s and Teaching Credential from Pepperdine University. The oldest of five siblings, Rachel loves animals—her family has cared for everything from snakes to dogs. An avid reader and outdoor enthusiast, she has played many sports, summited mountains, and competed in Tough Mudders and Spartan Races. Rachel believes God created each of us uniquely and that discovering who we are comes through reflection, faith, support, hard work, and patience. While she teaches English, she has a love of all knowledge, believing that lifelong learning keeps life exciting, fuels creativity, and deepens our understanding of God’s creation.

Rebekah McNamara
She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Sports Science with an emphasis on Rehabilitation from Concordia University in Irvine, CA, graduating in 2009. That fall, she began her teaching career at LCA, where she taught until 2012 before stepping away to raise her family. She returned to the classroom in 2020, bringing renewed energy and dedication. Born and raised in the Lighthouse Church and a graduate of the Lighthouse Schools from K–12, she is deeply committed to the school and church’s vision. She seeks to create a learning environment where students not only love school but also grow in their faith and draw closer to God.

Josh Young
Superintendant
Josh, superintendent of the Lighthouse School Ministry, is a graduate of LCA and holds a Bachelor’s degree in History from UCLA, as well as a Master of Divinity. He is passionate about helping students reach their full potential and serves as an assistant pastor at Lighthouse Church. Josh values family, faith, and making a meaningful, positive impact in the lives of young people.
Kathy Payton
Kathy Payton has been a valued member of the Lighthouse Schools for nearly two decades. She leads the Independent Study program, providing students with a self-paced, personalized curriculum tailored to their learning needs. Known for her patience, understanding, and gentle yet firm guidance, Kathy has earned a reputation as a caring teacher and a favorite among students.
